Hospice

Hospice Care

Hospice care services provide comfort and kindness to those persons nearing the end of life's journey. This type of care helps you make decisions about how and where you want to spend the rest of your life.

Tender Care Health Services provides hospice care in El Paso, TX, and hospice care in Las Cruces, along with the surrounding areas.

Hospice care services include Nursing, Medical Social Services, Therapy Services, Chaplain, Home Health/Hospice Aide, Nutritional Counseling, Volunteer Services, and Bereavement. All services are provided under the direction of a physician and/or the Hospice Medical Director.

Why Hospice?

Hospice treats you, not the disease.

The focus is on care, not cure. You and your family's medical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs are addressed by a team of hospice of El Paso or hospice of Las Cruces professionals and volunteers.  It affirms life and regards dying as a normal process.

Hospice considers your entire family.

You and your family are included in the decision making process. Hospice will help you and your family make choices about end-of-life issues and enable you to have greater control over these choices. Bereavement counseling is provided to your family for up to one year after your death.

Hospice offers supportive care, rather than curative treatment.

Hospice will provide care and comfort when cure is no longer an option. Through ever advancing technology, pain and symptom control, hospice will enable you to live as fully and comfortably as possible.

Admission Information

Tender Care Health Services provides hospice care in the Home, Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Long-Term Care Centers. Care is also provided to patients in the hospital on a short-term basis to address authorized medical emergencies. Our purpose is to assist in pain control, symptom management, to provide emotional and spiritual support and to terminally ill persons and those who care for them.

An individual can be admitted into Tender Care Hospice when a physician certifies that the individual is in the end-stages of an illness and life expectancy is approximately 6 months or less. Admission is also based on the choice of the individual and/or their family to have palliative or “comfort only” rather than aggressive and curative treatment.

Many people who are admitted to Tender Care Hospice live beyond the 6-month prognosis. Our hospice care El Paso, or hospice care Las Cruces team will continue to evaluate the patient’s medical condition for appropriateness to hospice care. If you have any questions about this process, please ask. We will ensure that you have all of the services in your home that are needed to provide you with comfort and assistance.
