Hospice Billing Specialist

Tender Care Home Health and Hospice is seeking an experienced Hospice Billing Specialist to assist in the business office by maintaining a timely and accurate system for the processing of all Hospice claims and by regularly monitoring accounts receivable and the collection thereof. The position does require experience in medical billing in a direct medical environment.

Reports to: Hospice Revenue Cycle Manager

Responsibilities

Position Qualifications
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
3. Current/valid automobile liability insurance.
4. Exhibits qualities of dependability, reliability, integrity and ethicality.
5. Knowledge and experience in current accounting and billing systems with an emphasis in hospice billing of Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance required.
6. Minimum One (1) year previous health care related billing experience required.
7. Two (2) years of experience in a Hospice medical billing environment highly preferred.
8. Ability to adhere to all applicable Home Hospice policies and regulatory requirements.
9. Ability to communicate effectively.
10. Must maintain strict confidentiality of information relating to the patient(s) (HIPAA).
11. Ability to adhere to the Mission and Vision Statement of Tender Care Home Health & Hospice.
Job Duties (include, but are not limited to the following):
1. Prepares and bills timely all Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance claims each month.
2. Evaluates denied claims, researches and resubmits claims appropriately for payment.
3. Keeps track daily, weekly and/or monthly of all information impacting timely processing of accounts receivables
4. Analyzes and reviews all reporting to meet or exceed collection goals.
5. Performs tracking and posting of payments and/or adjustments as directed.
6. Researches potential sources of payment for indigent or other unpaid claims.
7. Keeps skills current n billing systems with special emphasis on Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance updates from CMS and other agencies.
8. Attend staff meetings and in-services as required by agency.
9. Adhere to all policies and processes.
10. Other duties as assigned.

SCHEDULE:
Monday – Friday 8a-5p

PAY: Depends on Experience (DOE) plus Monthly Incentives

Skills

Knowledge and Competency:
Comprehension skills sufficient to understand varied technological and professional communications and instructions.
Proficiency in basic office skills including, but not limited to, typing, computer skills, photocopying, faxing and filing including electronic data entry.
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with vendors and fellow staff members.
Ability to follow-through on assignments and manage time to complete all duties.
Ability to recognize experience and knowledge limitation so as to direct communication to appropriate personnel.
Experience in a medical billing and preferably Hospice billing is required.
